Shortly after losing to Colorado State to finish the 2012 season with a record of 4-9, University of New Mexico head coach Bob Davie informed the school’s administration that he will be returning to ESPN. Davie was previously a college football color commentator for ESPN from 2002 to 2011.
The search for Davie’s replacement ended with the hiring of Reginald Tomlinson, on a 7 year contract. Tomlinson is not new to coaching at the college level, but this will be his first head coaching position at the D1 level. Tomlinson’s most recent position was the head coach at Liberty University, where he lead the Flames to a 21-12 record from 2010-2012.
Tomlinson’s and his Lobos first test will be the UTSA Roadrunners at home on August 31st.
